Kite Surfing is one of the newest, coolest and most extreme watersports. A sort of cross between windsurfing, wakeboarding, surfing and paragliding.
The kite itself can be anything between 6 and 25 square metres in size with flying lines up to 30m long.
A kitesurf board is between 5ft-6ft long with foot straps and an ankle leash to keep you attached.
Then there's the kite control bar which is attached to a windsurf-style harness with a harness line.
The World Championship is made up of six events which take place at different venues around the world.

Each event attracts between 40-50 competitors who are whittled down round-by-round on a knock-out basis. Similar to a tennis event like Wimbledon I suppose!
Each competitor is given 10 minutes to impress the judges who award marks according to technical difficulty, power and style.
Anybody can try kitesurfing. But be warned - once you start, you won't want to stop. It's such a bug!
There are 15 regional kitesurfing centres in the UK. They'll let you borrow their equipment and organise some lessons for you.
With kites costing between £600 and £700 and boards setting you back about £300 you're probably looking to spend around a £1,000 to get you started.

I found your site last week, called you up and got my first powerkite from your shop the day after that. I ended up with a radsails 3.0 which I'm totally happy with - unsurprising as your advice could not be better informed. Thank you again for the single greatest retail experience I ever had. If there is any justice you'll go a long way with your business! Hope to see you at White Horse sometime soon :-)
