I currently have a Flexifoil super 10 but now want to upgrade so I can get Skudding and a little Air Jumping, wind speed varies greatly in yorkshire so I just need to know what kite and model you recommend to achieve this I am about 12stone and have a budget of around 200 pound - James - 18/8/04
Hi James. As a first traction kite we'd recommend either a 3 or 4m kite. If you want something that will be usable up to a higher maximum wind speed (probably about 15-18mph) then go for the 3m. If you want something that will pull more in any given amount of wind, but that you will be forced to put away more often when it gets TOO windy, then go for the 4m. Model wise, for a great value kite that's well within your budget, the PKD Buster is the one to go for - currently £125 for a 3m or £150 for a 4m. On the other hand, if you want a kite that is more stable and 'nicer' to fly, then the Ozone Samurai is the one to go for, but this comes in a little above your budget - £245 for the 3m or £295 for the 4m version. Yet another option is the Flexifoil Blade. This generates more lift than almost any other kite, making it ideal for jumping, though not really suitable if you wanted to start buggying in future. Once again though, it's above budget at £270 for 3m or £310 for a 4m. - Rob @ KiteDynamics - 23/8/04
